Epic ending to an epic love story

I received a reviewer's copy of this book from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's release day launch promotions.If there were two fictional people who deserved an epic ending, it would definitely be Talia and Sebastian. This conclusion to their love story is every bit what fans of this series would love. I am sure that everyone who has followed this series will absolutely love the ending. And if you haven't read the first two books, the you should do so right away because you would have missed out on a good part of your life as a reader if you haven't read them.
More than the love story, Blackest Red shows the growth and development of the main characters. They are now so different from how they were when the series started. But it's a good kind of different. It's the kind of different that comes with maturity. I freaking loved it.

From the very beginning, the chemistry between the hero and the heroine was undeniable. In this book, their love for each other was so strong, it sounds so realistic, like they were two real people who've had difficult lives and hard times but have found the greatest love in each other.

That thing that Sebastian did at the end? It was so sweet that it makes me wish I had someone like him. We all long for that once in a lifetime kind of love in our lives. We find it easier to get that in fiction. That's why we love books. Blackest Red not only gives us that satisfaction, it also takes us for a ride, one that will never be easy to forget.

Outside looking in...

Sebastian and Talia light up the pages with their dynamic chemistry and this final book in the series finds their pasts connecting in ways they couldn't imagine. Sebastian is an alpha male with a tender heart and a medical condition that makes him vulnerable. Talia has devastating secrets in her past that shape her independent nature.

Although the story is great, the ending left me wanting.
1. When Talia discovers her father, I felt left standing outside on the sidewalk, hoping to know what she will do with this information.
2. Sebastian has yearned since he was a child to discover what happened with his mother's killing, only to "slap" the hands of the person responsible....there had to be another way for this to play out, after all the venom in his heart about this situation, for so many years. Maybe a freak accident or lightning strike. This venomous character needs to go down, it isn't enough to threaten her.
3. Talia's aunt reveals her part in breaking up Talia's engagement and that she was the fire starter.....she finds no repercussion.
4. What happened to poor Nathan? Did he learn about the stalker?

The loose ends to the story are woven into a cohesive knot,...but with gaps. Love how the relationship leads to a proposal....would love to see the red diamond ring!

What I really just want to say is that I can't believe this series is now over ... I'm just not ready to say good-bye to Talia and Sebastian.

I was so quickly captivated by this series, when I picked up the first book, Mister Black, there's mystery, suspense, major anticipation of the unknown and oh the steaminess! The chemistry between Talia and Seb is unbelievable, it'll definitely leaving you wanting more!

Anyways, Blackest Red ... where shall I begin? It was everything that I hoped for, this book was a bit of a run around since a certain someone kept trying to runaway. I definitely got where she was coming from, but come on, runaway from Sebastian?! That's the unthinkable, girl you be trippin'! I loved that Seb constantly fought for her and kept reminding her why they belong together indefinitely. Their chemistry is off the charts and you'll love every moment they're together.

I'm so sad that this series has to end, I want more of Seb and Talia! Their story is very intriguing and moves along so well; there's never a dull moment. I got everything that I was hoping for and I'd be happy if you ever felt like writing more about them! *ahem ... cough cough*

Sorry that this review was a complete ramble, but it was hard to put words together to form actual sentences. It just sounded like a bunch of garb in my head ... hehe! But I think readers won't be disappointed in this series, it was such a great conclusion! Well done, P.T.!

Only half the book it purports to be

The First and the Last is a superlative book. The edition on offer here, care of Buccaneer Books, Cutchogue, NY is not. The first seven chapters have been dumped, all the maps and charts are missing and the majority of the original photographic illustrations have been omitted or replaced with different images. I can't say whether these were used in later editions - they are certainly not in my Methuen & Co 1955 edition. Aside from the back of his head there no longer remains a single image of the man himself! All photo reproductions are poor.
On the positive side I didn't waste much money on this copy. Give it a miss!

The German "Samurai!" - A must read.

When this book was first published, it, like Saburo Sakai's "Samurai!", created quite a stir. As one of the earliest books to be told from the "enemy" perspective during World War II, it was, to say the least, revealing.
Galland started the war with the Condor Legion in Spain and rose to become Germany's General of Fighters. His book is a firsthand account of the Luftwaffe's (and Germany as a whole, for that matter) relentless rise to supremacy and gradual decline to the pit of defeat. Galland's narrative is vivid, at times brilliant, but what is most striking is the incredible--and astoundingly REPETITIVE--ignorance and ineptitude of the German leadership.
Hitler's continued insistence on wasting much-needed aircraft in futile offensives is, even to readers from the Allied nations, frustrating. The same story seems to be repeated over and over again: Galland, through sheer force of will, manages to build up a large force of reserves. His plan is to send them up en masse to wipe out so many Allied bombers that the bombing raids over Germany would have to be postponed until replacement planes can be built and delivered from the U.S.. On the eve of Galland's plan going into action Hitler orders an offensive and the reserves are depleted, forcing Galland to start again from scratch. The story is repeated over and over again, and eventually, Galland resigns his post in disgust and goes on to lead a jet squadron composed of hand picked EXPERTEN, the last of Germany's great fighter aces. Fighting a war they know is lost, they write a poignant final chapter to one of histories bloodiest periods.
Unlike the pilots of the Allied nations, the pilots of the Luftwaffe were forced to do battle until they were maimed or killed. Galland's book gives us a glimpse of the human element of the German side during World War II. The increasing tempo of Allied bombing raids, the dwindling stockpiles of planes, parts, pilots, and fuel, and the exasperation that comes with fighting a losing battle with one hand tied behind your back are told in a no-nonsense manner the reader will appreciate.

This Version is a Ripoff

I just received The First and the Last today. The version provided here is a ripoff, apparently assembled by a small-time printing company specifically as orders come in. It is dated three days ago, in Lexington, KY (publisher's address?). It is more magazine than book, large pages, small print, one page of printing in the first chapter repeated on the next page, no maps, no photos. Very hard to read.

This version is a travesty, and I am surprised Amazon would ship such a thing. This book was a well-known classic, written by an important German general, with attempted insight into why the Luftwaffe lost the air war. It's called an autobiography, but there is no autobiographical info about General Galland -- only his description of how the war was conducted. This leads me to believe this is an incomplete edition, with chapters missing.

I've been an Amazon customer almost since the beginning. This is the single most disappointing purchase I have made from Amazon in all that time. Don't buy it. It's a ripoff.

This is an outstanding book for anyone who is considering developing an online or hybrid course. All concepts are presented in a straightforward, practical manner with plenty of examples. There is no extraneous material and the rationale behind all recommendations are clearly defined.

In short, the authors have created an easy-to-follow, effective blueprint for bringing your instruction online. I strongly recommend it for any first-time online and/or hybrid instructors.

Excellent new version of the original

Excellent new version of the original. The issues are clear and interesting. For everyone that has been teaching in the traditional classroom, this book shows the way to transition to an online or blend curriculum. In fact, it even helps with the continuing design of the traditional model.
For the experienced online instructor, it will supply the one or two missing elements that you have been looking for.

“Complete” is the best word to describe the scope of this book. It covers everything from high-level rationales for designing an online course to best practices in document design. Guidelines for producing audio and video media are also included. The companion website, Essentials of Online Course Design (http://essentialsofonlinecoursedesign.com/), adds an extra dimension to the book, offering additional resources for deeper exploration.

It’s an excellent and easy-to-understand introduction for educators on how to make sense of and effectively use LMSs at their institutions. Even if not teaching online, the strategies in this book are an extension of core sound teaching principles that any instructor will be able to apply to create effective technology-enhanced teaching and learning experiences.
